VRA FAQs

1) What is the difference between and institutional and an individual membership? Individual membership shall be available to anyone who has completed a membership application form and paid the dues. Institutional membership shall be available to any organization, firm, association, or other institution who has completed a membership application form and paid the dues. Institutional membership allows for up to three representatives each with full member benefits. Further information on membership classification is available in the Association Bylaws: http://www.vraweb.org/organization/bylaws.html

2) How do I subscribe to the VRA-L?
To subscribe to the VRA Listserv you must complete an online membership form and submit payment. A Listserv subscription is good for the calendar year and is $40.00. To subscribe go to http://my.memberclicks.com/vra. Click on “Join VRA Today” and type your email address in the “New User” field. A blank profile page will appear. Complete the form, indicate you would like a listerv-only subscription, select payment type, and click the “submit” button at the bottom of the page. Once your form and payment are received you will be subscribed to the listserv.

3) Do you accept purchase orders for membership fees?
Unfortunately the Association does not accept purchase orders. You must complete an online membership from at http://my.memberclicks.com/vra. Once you submit the form you will receive an email confirmation which is your receipt. You can pay by check, money order, or credit card.

4) I've changed jobs, how do I update my contact information or how does my institution update my membership record with my replacement’s information?
Simply log-in to MemberClicks with your username and password, do a “simple search” for your profile, click on “view profile” and then “edit.” Make any necessary changes and save them. If your email address has changed then email join@vraweb.org with your old and new email addresses so your listserv subscription can be updated.

5) I have not been receiving VRA-L messages for the last few weeks and I just tried to send a message to the listserv but I got a message saying I was not authorized to send messages. What could the problem be?
Likely the email address you are sending your message from is not the one that you are subscribed under. Simply forward the error message to join@vraweb.org along with your email address.

6) I forgot my username and/or password. How can I get this information?
If you forgot your username and/or password click on the “forgot your password” link and enter your email address. This information will be emailed to you. Please note that if the email address you enter does not match the one in your MemberClicks profile you will not be able to get this information following these directions. If you have trouble, email join@vraweb.org requesting this information.

7) How do I become a member? To join VRA you must complete an online membership form and submit payment. A membership is good for the calendar year and the rate is based on your income level. To join go to http://my.memberclicks.com/vra. Click on “Join VRA Today” and type your email address in the “New User” field. A blank profile page will appear. Complete the form, indicate your membership level, select payment type, and click the “submit” button at the bottom of the page. Once your form and payment are received your membership will be processed.

8) I just joined VRA in June, and now in September I received renewal information already. I thought membership was for one year.
The membership year runs with the calendar year, January 1 through December 31. Regardless of when you join in the year your membership will expire on December 31. The exception to this is if you join after October 15th when all new memberships are applied to the upcoming year. September is when the renewal packets are sent out for the next year.

9) It is July and I am just now renewing. Are membership fees prorated?
Unfortunately memberships are not prorated. The membership year runs January 1 through December 31. Regardless of when you join in the year the fees are standard and your membership will expire on December 31.
