Accomplishments:
So far this year the New York Chapter of VRA held a Spring meeting on May 11, 2007 at the New York School for Interior Design. This meeting was hosted by Eric Wolf and Christopher Spinelli who had one of their adjunct faculty members describe his experiences with using digital images in Luna Insight. In addition, at this meeting Johanna Bauman gave a presentation on the XML Workshop she attended at the VRA conference in Kansas City. Detailed minutes of the meeting are available online at: http://www.vraweb.org/chapters/greaternewyork/20060510_VRAnotes.pdf.
During the business part of the meeting, elections were held. As the previous vice chair, Johanna Bauman assumed the role of Chair, and Billy Kwan - who was running unopposed - was elected to the role of Vice Chair. Barbara Treitel will continue to perform her duties as Secretary/Treasurer.

Goals
:
Webmaster Eric Wolf has begun moving the chapter web information from the NYSID-hosted website to the VRA-hosted website; a task that will be completed by the end of the summer.
In the coming year the chapter will be holding a fall meeting at Vassar hosted by the VR Curator Sarah Goldstein on Friday, October 19th. She will talk about digitization efforts being undertaken there and give a demonstration of the lecture hall used to teach the art history survey.
While these ideas have not yet met with the approval of the general membership, the Chair and Vice Chair met earlier this summer to strategize meetings and events for the coming year. For the spring meeting, the chapter meeting may focus on a topic such as the implications of social tagging and other Web 2.0 technologies for image cataloging, specifically, and visual resources functions more generally. In addition, we hope to include an additional event, possibly with presentations by staff of the Metropolitan Museum of Art or ARTstor to discuss the implications of making images from the museum’s collection more easily available for scholarly publication through the ARTstor interface.
