Mid-Year Report 2002
Mid-year Report Current Charge: N/A

June 14, 2002

Accomplishments:

There was an attempt to have a fall 2001 meeting but response was not sufficient at this difficult period nationally. Some of our chapter leaders left the area for new positions. The Chapter has planned a spring meeting for Wed. June 19, 2002 at Bryn Mawr College. At least nine members will attend and one ARLIS colleague. After a picnic lunch and business meeting (agenda will include report from the Chapter Chairs' meeting at the St. Louis conference, dues and budget request discussion), the program will be a Round Table Discussion on "Interdisciplinary imaging needs and database investigations," led by Joan Beaudoin of BMC's Digital Media Dept. Joan will also demo the new "Digital Media and Visual Resources Image Collection," recently mounted on the web.
The spring meeting was scheduled so as not to conflict with the St. Louis ARLIS/VRA national conference at the end of March to which seven of our twelve members attended, and not to conflict with an early May ARLIS/DVC meeting (several of our members belong to ARLIS).

In the way of communication, the local Chapter has a web page for its membership list, bylaws, minutes and reports: <http//www.brynmawr.edu/Admins/DMVRC/vrap> and a local listserve: vrap-l@brynmawr.edu. Several of our members are regular contributors to discussions on VRA-L. Meeting information is shared between ARLIS/DVC and VRAP officers so that joint endeavors might be considered as appropriate.

Goals:

The chapter's members continue an interest in focusing attention on educational meetings, and sharing information to assist with coping with rapid technological change.
There will be an election of a new Secretary/Treasurer in the fall which is on a two-year cycle alternating with the term of the Chairperson.

Board Action Requested:

No issues have been expressed by the chapter's membership.

Budget Request:

Nothing at this time, but topic will be on agenda of the June 19th meeting.

Miscellaneous (Financials, Membership Action Requests, etc):

Financials:

The Chapter has waived the collection of dues in lieu of members' membership within the VRA. Discussion is planned for the June '02 meeting regarding dues and submitting a budget for special needs. Presently costs of meetings are borne by the hosting institution and contributions are made by attending members to a modest honorarium for a visiting speaker. This situation has constraints for pursuing a major speaker with travel costs.
