VRA Great Lakes Chapter Fall Meeting

I. Welcome

  1. Marlene Gordon welcomed everyone to the meeting
  2. Thank you to Julia Chytil and Toledo Museum of Art colleagues for hosting and planning the Fall meeting

II. Approval of Spring Meeting Minutes

  1. Minutes from the Spring meeting in Toronto were reviewed. Joseph Romano motioned to accept minutes. Julia Chytil seconded. All agreed and minutes were approved.

III. Treasurer's Report

Balance as of February 25, 2009:                               $ 894.40

Income:
                Dues                                                        120.00
                Chapter meeting registrations                     220.00

Expenditures:
                Membership refund (double payment)       15.00

Balance as of November 12, 2009:            $1219.40

  1. Astrid Otey provided the Treasurer’s report.  Current balance is $1219.40 and does not include expenditures for Fall meeting in Toledo.
  2. Possible upcoming expenditures will include sponsoring a session at national conference if chapter membership agrees.  Last year’s cost of sponsorship was $200.
  3. Reminder to pay membership dues.  This now can be done through bundled membership with the national membership renewal.

IV. Officer Elections

  1. Chapter Chair and Chapter Treasurer are both up for nominations.  Positions currently occupied by Marlene Gordon and Astrid Otey, respectively.  Both are willing to stay-on in positions.
  2. Nominating committee: Terry Kerby and Deardra Fuzzell
  3. Email notification for nominations will be sent to membership.
  4. Once nominations are gathered, email with possible candidates will be sent to chapter membership.  Members will be given 30 days from email to vote.

V. Bylaws Revisions

  1. Still need a final vote on bylaw revisions in order to accept.
  2. Marlene Gordon will send draft of bylaws to membership

VI. VRA Conference, Atlanta

  1. Workshop Grants
    1. Meghan Musolff reported that the VRA Education Committee is reviewing funding sponsorship for chapter attendees.  Alternate model of Education Committee sponsoring speakers for chapter meetings was discussed.
    2. Motion to support Chapter sponsorship (workshop registration fee) of one chapter member to attend conference workshop was passed
    3. Workshop grant Committee formed if multiple applicants:  Marlene Gordon, Joseph Romano, Terry Kerby
  2. Chapter Basket
    1. Looking for donations that evoke the Great Lakes
    2. Need more submissions than last year
    3. Members are encouraged to donate even if not attending the conference
    4. Yin-Fen Pao suggested creating a theme for the basket
    5. Elizabeth Meyer volunteered to coordinate Chapter basket donation
  3. Annual Meeting
    1. March 18, 2010, 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm

VII. Fall 2010 Meeting Location

  1. Discussion on having Fall meeting at University of Michigan—Ann Arbor in conjunction with ARLIS Mid-States.  No objections from present members.
  2. Marlene Gordon will contact Rebecca Price from ARLIS/Midstates for details

VIII. Matters Arising

  1. Inactive members?
    1. As per bylaws, inactive members are taken off of list
    2. Perhaps contact should be made with lapsed members
  2. SEI Pro Workshop?
    1. Anyone from Chapter planning on attending?

IX. Adjournment

  1. Carole Pawloski motioned for adjournment.
  2. Deardra Fuzzell seconded motion.
