I. Welcome and Introductions

II. Approval of Fall Meeting Minutes

  1. Astrid Otey sent meeting minutes corrections to Meghan Musolff, Chapter Secretary; Corrections made
  2. Motion to approve minutes made by Carole Pawloski, Kari Smith seconded. Minutes approved.

III. Membership

  1. Membership Committee: Astrid Otey, Sue Morris, Marlene Gordon; Others welcome to join if interested
  2. Chapter membership: January through December; If you join after October 15, your dues are applied to the next calendar year
  3. Sue Morris has identified potential members in Michigan
  4. Need a list of potential members in Ohio (Joe Romano) and Kentucky (Lesley Chapman)
  5. Marlene Gordon will send letters and membership form to potential members
  6. Contacting former members?
    1. Wright State University?
    2. Ohio Wesleyan?
    3. Columbus School of Art and Design?
    4. Kentucky State?
  7. If you know of potential Great Lakes members, send an email out to the group

IV. Announcement of Grant Workshop Recipient

  1. Yin-Fen Pao was this year's recipient of the Chapter's Workshop Grant
  2. Pao attended two workshops: Strategic Planning and Selling Visual Resources
  3. Lesley Chapman also attended the Strategic Planning workshop; Chapman will report on Strategic Planning workshop and Pao will report on Selling Visual Resources workshop
  4. Electronic sharing or in-person sharing? Both! Any information can be distributed through the Great Lakes email list. And both ladies will present at the upcoming Fall Meeting of the Chapter.

V.Treasurer's Report (from Astrid R. Otey, Chapter Treasurer)

  1. Bursary checks for Great Lakes memberships sent on a quarterly basis.

VI. Fall 2010 Meeting Planning

  1. Joint meeting between VRA Great Lakes and ARLIS/NA Mid-States
  2. Possible dates: 10/22, 10/29, 11/12
  3. Location: Ann Arbor, MI, host=Rebecca Price
  4. Meeting locations suggested: Hatcher Library, UMMA, Tappan Hall, Angell or Haven Halls
  5. Meeting may include tours of UMMA and Kelsey
  6. Program will include presentations from workshop attendees
  7. Hotel and other information forthcoming
  8. Possible trip to DIA on Saturday morning
    1. Terry Kerby has 12 person van for transportation
    2. Marlene Gordon will look into DIA admissions

  1. Thanks to Elizabeth Meyer for organizing Great Lakes Basket for VRAffle
  2. Confirm all Great Lakes members included on listserv mailing list
  3. Reminder: Great Lakes Chapter listserv now run by UM-Dearborn

    2. Old email for listserv related to Oberlin no longer works
