In attendance:

I. Call to Order

  1. Meeting called to order at 6:11 by Chapter Chair Marlene Gordon.

II. Approval of Fall Meeting Minutes

  1. Clarification made to VI, 1, 4 (cause=outside speaker)
  2. Motion to approve minutes made by Carole Pawloski
  3. Motion seconded by Elizabeth Meyer
  4. Fall meeting minutes approved

III. Officer Reports

  1. Treasurer Report
    1. Balance as of October 18, 2011: $1387.28
    2. Income:
      Dues: $ 290.00
      Expenditures:
      Chapter Meeting: $44.18
      Outside speaker donation: $100.00
      Miscellaneous fee: $6.00
      Balance as of March 31, 2012: $1527.10
    3. Travel award ($400) will be paid from balance
    4. Miscellaneous fee is a bank statement fee (situation fixed)

IV. Committee Reports

  1. Membership
    1. Marlene Gordon reported that there are 8 potential new members
    2. Member candidates: Lawrence Tech
    3. Members in Pennsylvania: University of Pittsburgh, Mattress Factory, Carnegie Mellon
    4. Joan Beaudoin suggested creating a poster/handout to advertise Chapter to students
      1. Chapter Secretary Meghan Musolff will see what she has on hand and ask Chapter Membership for help
  2. Travel Awards
    1. Joe Romano reported that the Chapter awarded our first Travel Award of $400 to Astrid Mast
    2. Future awards
      1. Carole Pawloski raised the issue of having an award to attend SEI
      2. Committee would have to consider criteria, deadlines, etc.
      3. Discussion on topic will be opened up to the entire Chapter membership

V. Fall Meeting, Detroit

  1. Friday, October 5, 2012
  2. Meeting in Kresge Court, Detroit Institute of Art
  3. Bring cash for lunch
  4. $7 entrance fee for non-members to visit DIA
  5. Curator will be approached to do tour
  6. Build in time for museum visit
  7. A discussion of "Fair Use" is planned for the afternoon
  8. Marlene Gordon will check on prices for hotels in Dearborn
  9. Parking is $5 at the museum
  10. Possible library tour?

VI. Matters Arising

  1. Chapter Secretary Meghan Musolff asked those in attendance to send her pictures of Albuquerque for possible inclusion on the Chapter website
  2. Chapter asked to contribute as monetary sponsor of SEI
    1. Decision was made not to contribute
  3. VRA now has access to GoTo meeting
    1. Can be used to Chapter, but need two week advance notice
  4. Marlene Gordon mentioned Dearborn as a possible location for future national VRA conference
