Business Meeting

1. Ann Woodward expressed the chapter’s thanks to Sarah Falls for arranging a very interesting and pleasant meeting.
2. Ann Woodward announced the receipt of two letters of thanks to the chapter. One was from Kathe Albrecht, VRA National President, for the monetary donation (in the amount of $200.00) the chapter was able to make to the 2005 Convention. The other was from Patricia McRae (alias Empress Patti), for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter’s contribution of a bag of goodies for the 2005 VRA Raffle.

3. Ann Burns, Secretary/Treasurer, reported that our bank balance as of 5/20/2005 was $615.13, and the number of dues-paying members as of 5/20/2005 was 17. Four members paid their dues at the meeting. Ann reminded the membership of the importance of paying dues to the chapter. Not only are dues one of the national organization’s criteria for official chapters, but the dues enable the chapter to have more flexibility in its activities, such as contributing to the national convention or perhaps providing an honorarium to a meeting speaker.

4.Ann Woodward announced that the Fall meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter will be a joint meeting with ARLIS/NA MD-DC-VA, and will be held on Friday, October 14th at the Library of Congress.

5. The Mid-Atlantic Chapter is the local chapter for the 2006 VRA National Conference in Baltimore. Macie Hall is taking names of volunteers to work on the local arrangements for the conference. Also let Macie know if you have any suggestions for tours or other activities that could be offered at the conference.

6. Ann Whiteside and Ann Woodward are actively seeking suggestions on how to improve Cataloguing Cultural Objects workshops. They also encourage users to share how they are using CCO in image cataloging. Macie suggested that local study groups might set up blogs to discuss CCO issues, and that this concept might be extended to chapter issues or anything else that members found useful.

The meeting adjourned at 3:00 PM.
