Presentations:

"Digital Library Building Blocks: An Update", by Mary Elings, UCB Bancroft Library
Mary's presentation focused on the development and implementation of metadata standards being used by the California Digital Library and the Online Archive of California (OAC).

"California Digital Library Image Service Project", Robin Chandler, Digital Content Coordinator, CDL.
Robin is the manager of the Online Archive of California (OAC). The California Digital Library is working to develop and acquire access to digital collections. They are using LUNA Insight as their platform of choice.

"Demonstration of Digital Asset Management Database (DAMD)", Jason Baker, Digital Media Developer, UCB Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive.

The Digital Asset Management Database (DAMD) is based on Filemaker Pro, and is used to manage digital assets and manage workflow.  It exports EAD (for single items with metadata), MOA2 (for longer documents, books), and is projected to export METS (Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard) in Februrary 2004. The software is free, available by emailing Jason. He'll burn you a CD, which will work on a Mac or PC. It is easy to import your own content management system into DAMD. It can be mapped to batch input.

Break for lunch.

Afternoon tours of the Environmental Design Library and Archives and the Architecture Visual Resources Library.

3:30 on: Tours of Berkeley Art Museum or Phoebe Hearst Anthropology Museum.
