Accomplishments:
Spring Meeting, May 14, 2004, McHenry Library, University of California, Santa Cruz. Featured presentation: "Managing a Digitization Project" by Trudy Levy and Howard Brainen. (Abbreviated version of workshop Ms. Levy and Mr. Brainen gave at the 2004 VRA Conference in Houston.) The special fee for the presentation is to go to establishing a Chapter travel award to assist VRA NorCal members to attend the VRA annual conference. The Chapter would like to raise at least $300 for this award. A request to VRA National for additional funds for this award was turned down.
Two new committees formed: Funding Committee (Trudy Levy, Image integration, and Karen Kessel, Sonoma State University); Travel Award Committee (to be selected at the Fall meeting). The afternoon concluded with tours of the Visual Resources Collection and the UCSC Library Special Collections.
Fall Meeting, December 10, 2004, Berkeley Art Museum, University of California at Berkeley. The presentations were: "VRA Core and XML", Jan Eklund, History of Art, University of California, Berkeley; "MOAC (Museums and the Online Archive of California)" Layna White, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; "Summary of UC Slides Summit, August, 2004, UCSD"Maryly Snow, Architecture Visual Resources Library, University of California, Berkeley.
The Treasurer reported on the Chapter Travel Award: raised $140.00 in
Spring; will match and add $20.00 for total award of $300.00 for annual
conference
Committees established/continued:
Nominating Committee for new officers election: Jan Eklund, Andree Le Bourveau, Corey Schultz
VRA NorCal Travel Award Committee: Karen Kessel, Trudy Levy, Corey Schultz
Recruitment Committee: Shawn Calhoun, Nina Hagiwara, Regina Kammer, Andree LeBourveau, Corey Schultz
The Board's term expired at the December 11th meeting.
New Board of Officers:
- Marika Wolfe replaced Corey Schultz as Chair;
- Howard Brainen replaced Marika Wolfe as Vice Chair
- Kathleen Hardin will replace Andree LeBourveau as Treasurer
- Jason Miller replaced Nina Hagiwara as Secretary
Travel Award designee
- Andree Lebourveau,
Cabrillo College (Chapter Treasurer)
Goals:
- Maintain minimum $500.00 in chapter treasury
- Change officers' responsibilities: membership records to be handled by Treasurer along with dues collection. Necessary to revise Chapter By-laws
- Elect new officers
- Create image for "Image is Everything" Poster-Trudy Levy
Board Action Requested:
Ask National Board
to consider contributing money for joint meetings, i.e., ARLIS/VRA.
