VRA Southeast Regional Chapter Meeting Minutes

March 12, 2008, VRA 26th Annual Conference San Diego, California

Present: Emy Decker (Chair), Mary Alexander, Barbara Brenny, Pat Cosper, Mary O’Neill, Virginia Allison, Martine Sherrill, and Christine Hilker

Chapter chairwoman, Emy Decker, called the meeting to order.

Minutes from the August meeting were approved

Announcements:

Membership forms for 2008 were distributed. Forms and dues were collected.

Chapter’s web site is up with the following sections: officers, bylaws, and minutes.

New Business: Election of Secretary/Treasurer

Pat Cosper was unanimously elected Secretary/Treasurer to serve until 2010.

The next chapter meeting will be held in Birmingham on August 1, 2008. Pat Cosper, co-chair for arrangements, discussed hotel and dinning arrangements. The members discussed the type of format (lecture, workshop, round table discussion, etc.) that they would include as the continuing education part of the meeting. Barbara Brenny will present on the decision tree workshop that she will attend during this conference. Saturday (August 2) activities were discussed. They included visiting sites of Birmingham (Sloss Furnaces, Birmingham Museum of Art, and the Civil Rights Museum area including the 16th Street Baptist) and studio and architecture tours (corporate and domestic). Martine suggested that members bring ten architectural images from their home town to share with the group since these would be images unavailable from a vendor. Chapter members will continue discussion by e-mail.

After the meeting, the chapter members will continue its tradition by dining with the members of the Mid-Atlantic chapter.
