VRA Southeast Regional Chapter Meeting Minutes

March 18, 2010, VRA 28th Annual Conference Atlanta, Georgia

Present: Barbara Brenny (Chair), Becky Badham, Frank Jackson, Christine Hilker, Emy Decker, Gwen Davidson, Mary Murphy, Dawn Feavyour, Jennifer Tyner, Stephanie Witchger, Martine Sherrill, Cynthia Ham-Oliver, Angela Dittmar, Shane McDonald, Mary Alexander and Pat Cosper

The minutes from the previous meeting (June 5, 2009, Raleigh, NC) were read and approved

Pat Cosper gave the treasurer’s report. She reported a bank balance of $415.00 as of February 10 which reflects the last bank transaction. This includes 2010 dues from 16 members ($160.00) and the expenditure of $200.00 to the VRA for the sponsorship of a workshop at the annual conference. Funds from dues are now coming in from the VRA which is collecting dues with the bundled membership feature on the VRA website.

The election of a new secretary/ treasurer was held and Pat Cosper was nominated and elected to serve another term.

Recruitment of new members was discussed. Each state should have a volunteer to recruit new members from that state. Strategies were discussed as to how this should take place and all agreed that more work in regard to recruitment needed to be done.

Shane McDonald volunteered to update the chapter website.

Barbara ask for ideas about workshops, sessions and other activities at the upcoming mini regional conference to be held in Richmond in October. Suggestions included a workshops focusing on technology and cataloguing and sessions that resulted in breakout groups for discussion. It was suggested by Barbara that we should approach Macie Hall about doing an IT workshop.

Several new members were present and everyone including old members introduced themselves.

Barbara asked for volunteers to host the second meeting of 2011. Dawn Feavyour asked about the responsibilities of the host and agreed to consider hosting the meeting at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. She will discuss this with her department and let the chapter know if it is something that she will be able to host the meeting.

Pat Cosper reminder everyone to please pay their dues if they had not already done so and also for new members to fill out membership forms.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made and seconded and the meeting was adjourned.
