VRA Southeast Regional Chapter Meeting Minutes

Present: Pat Cosper, Frank Jackson, Karen Brunsting, Dawn Feavyour, and Christine Hilker

The meeting was called to order by Pat Cosper, who was holding the meeting in the absence of the chair.

Minutes from the August 1, 2008 meeting were approved

Karen Brunsting, our newest member requested to be placed on the List-serve.

Pat Cosper gave the Treasurer’s report. It was reported that we have a bank account balance of $395.00. That is a $10.00 increase since August of 2008. There have been eleven members to pay their dues ($110.00) and one check written ($100.00 for sponsorship of Workshop 2 for the VRA conference).

Pat Cosper gave a report from the August 1, 2008 meeting held in Birmingham.

Pat Cosper gave a report on the chapter’s planned summer meeting to be held in Raleigh on June 6. The meeting will be hosted by Barbara Brenny.

A discussion about increasing our membership concluded that everyone should try to recruit new members. It was suggested that someone from each state be responsible for getting in touch with everyone in their respective states to encourage those who have not joined or rejoined for this year to do so.

A discussion about the chapter’s involvement was held. It was stressed that to be helpful with the Atlanta meeting we should recruit new members. It was reported that Frank Jackson and Pat Cosper would attend the Atlanta Committee meeting on Saturday and then report to the chapter the specific responsibilities that would be expected.

A volunteer was solicited to host the 2010 summer meeting. Chris Hilker said that she would consider hosting; however she has great concerns about the number of people who would attend if the meeting is held in a location that is not central to the chapter’s membership. No specific date was discussed. We just discussed the summer months in general.
