Current Digitization Activity in College Visual Resources Collections
(up to 2004)
In February of 2004, Jeffrey Erickson of Davidson College in North Carolina posted a query on the VRA listserv to college VR collections of a similar size, asking what types of projects were underway or planned. Curators from nine schools responded, reporting on activities at various levels of scale and commitment. Some points are noted below; check the listserv archive under “Digitized Projects Under Way” for more details.
All types of visual resources collections looking for emerging digitization activities among their cohorts are encouraged to report to this web site (The Digital Scene) on activities underway at their own institutions. Short of a formal survey, this listing can be updated and expanded, with links to additional information as available.
